Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (about 450g) ground beef, chicken, or your choice of protein
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Taco shells (soft or hard)
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
  • Diced onions
  • Sour cream
  • Salsa
  • Chopped cilantro (optional)
  • Lime wedges

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Protein: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, chicken, or preferred protein until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Season the Protein: Add the taco seasoning and water to the cooked protein. Simmer for a few minutes until the mixture thickens and is well-seasoned.
  3. Prepare Toppings: While the protein is cooking, prepare your taco toppings—shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, diced onions, sour cream, salsa, and any other preferred toppings.
  4. Warm the Taco Shells: If using hard taco shells, warm them in the oven according to the package instructions. For soft taco shells, heat them on a skillet or in the microwave.
  5. Assemble the Tacos: Spoon the seasoned protein into each taco shell. Top with your favorite toppings and garnish with chopped cilantro if desired. Squeeze lime wedges over the tacos for extra flavor.
